Are these mags any good or what? Lets hear some stories of how they feed & function. I need to know if they will fail in times of importance.

Thanks

I have 5 that I bought off EE for $40.  Only one will hold the bolt open and all of them are a tight fit when full.  Besides that, I have had no issues with them.  Yes, they are cheap.  But, they're not bad for the price.

I have 10 (I also have 6 Colt magazines).  They work fine.  Bolt-hold-back is usually an issue of magazine block adjustment.

They are for COLT / RRA type blocks.

And don't forget a 9mm LULA loader!

where can I order them along with the LULA to load them?

Promags are hit and miss with reliability depending on what mag you get and at best they are perishable plinking range mags for people on a budget.

At the present time for best reliability use Colt mags that are in known working order for your 'times of importance'.  Despite problems with springs and folllowers that occur with Colt mags they are the best available.

When it comes to 'times of importance' the last anything should concern themselves with is the cost of thier equipment.

Promags are a Darwin Award waitin to happen.

I have far more problems with my Colt magazines (the 9mm geyser is always impressive) than I've had with my ProMags.

Mileage varies by customer.  Void where prohibited by law.

I broke down and bought a hand full of the Colt's. BHO is a feature that was important to me. I have a buddy who went the Promag route, thought it functioned it would never have last rouond BHO. If BHO isn't an issue I have no problem with the Promags. I have had no issues with the Colt's

I have 7 promag 9mm mags.  They all function well and I have never had a mag related malfunction with them.  They DO hold the bolt open.  At least they should, if you have the Colt/RRA mag block.  But I think they are pretty decent mag for the money.  I also have some Colt mags and the promags perform just as good as the Colts.  Only thing is when the Promags are fully loaded for awhile they swell a little making them somewhat difficult to get in the rifle.  But that is no big deal for me.

Pardon me, I'm a NooB.  Are there two generations of Promag out there? I've read about some, possibly older ones, that don't have the bho feature.  I just purchased my first Promag and it has the bho feature.

Thanks

I had 6 or 8 of them but lost two to dropping them loaded on a tile floor (they split right down the seam).

They seem to feed and function fine in my RRA 9mm, but I noticed that they can be easily seated too high and won't feed properly.  A sharp tug after seating the mag seems to fix this issue.

At 10.99 a piece though they are a good deal for range mags.  For serious use though, Colt or converted UZI magazines are much more reliable.

ETA: All magazines when properly seated activated last round bolt hold open.

Welcome, no pardon needed.

There aren't exactly 'generations' just half ass fixed ones.  Some look to have a machined skim cut on the side, the mold was changed here and there, but as far as I know they all came with the BHO.  I haven't seen any split down the side but I don't doubt it.  Imported and not built to last.

IMHO........you are better off buying quality Colt mags (even they can be a pain).  The frustration of shit equipment, especially mags, is unacceptable to me....even with my limited income I can pick up a $60 mag here and there.  Hell, I have blown more than that in a single night at a bar and still go home alone.

So to me in the big scheme of things cheap mags are not cheap if you have to replace them frequently, fighting malfunctions in the middle of a match, or just plinking with shit that don't work.

Get Colt mags.....you can lay them out on your bed and roll around on them in bliss

It depends on your gun. Some guns work fine with them and some dont. I had to file some of my mags to fit right in my RRA block.  isay the work about 97% without problems but all my Colt mags work great. 9mm Ar's are like woman U can never figured them out all the way.

where are you guys finding the promags for 10.99?  I just paid about 18 recently to try them.  I wouldn't mind having a few more for the range.  thanks.  gS

Dont be in a hurry to buy a bunch of Promags or Colt mags. CProducts is in the process of making a Colt style mag that is going to be Stainless Steel and will probably use some type of Magpul desiged follower. Larry at CP has alluded to a price point of around $20 to $25.

I would suggest that you buy a couple of Colt mags to get you by for a while. I do have 1 Promag and although it does work, I find that the quality is lacking and I seriously doubt that will hold up if used very much.

Be patient grasshoppa, a better product is on the way.

Thanks for the link.  I would like to see the other mags come to be pretty soon.  I have a couple of Promags like I mentioned but I have about 7 modified uzi mags.  I'm planning on buying 2 of the colt mags to have for "special occasions".  So I guess I have enough to make it until the new mags are ready.  Thanks again.  GS

Yep, bought one Promag to go with the converted UZi that came with it and am patiently (done yet?) waiting on the C Products mags.  (come on, they ready yet?)

Thanks
