I recently got a Colt 9mm factory AR. Unfortunately it came with the infamous Colt block so trigger options are limited. Is there any reason not to have it machined out ? Thanks to all.  I'm very new to AR's.

The original Colt set up is completely fine.

You must have purchased a pre-ban gun with the ugly sear block.
There are several outfits that will take it out, but it usually looks like crap.
So the sear block will limit some of your choices, but the larger trigger pins will limit you even more.

Having removed one of those &@@_U*Y*  blocks myself....

If you did want to have it removed... send it out to have it done.

That said.... the only real reason to remove it is for different trigger options, and frankly, as a OEM Colt 9MM ... ( bobbed hammer ? ) your trigger options are kind of limited.

If it was a 5.56... I would remove it.

As a 9MM ... leave it.

Really depends on if it's a separate block (with how many pins) or one of the newer ones that is just an unmachined web of aluminum at the back of the lower.
