I have a short barreled 9mm I just finished.  I noticed the bolt is hitting the top of the receiver.  If the hammer is cocked back the bolt works fine.  If the hammer is forward against the firing pin the bolt won't move but about 1/2 inch.

It looks like the bolt is wedged against the upper but can't see what is causing it.

I haven't tried to shoot it yet because of this problem.

RRA barrel
RRA upper receiver
RRA bolt
DPMS lower
DPMS lpk
RRA hammer
RRA buffer & spring
RRA mag block
KNS non-rotation pins (gen II)

Is your RRA hammer the 9mm specific one, or is it a 5.56 hammer with the notch on the upper face of the hammer?

please forgive me -- I'm just guessing but try removing the RRA mag block and see if the bolt goes back OK. If the bolt moves OK put the mag block back in till it touches the bolt than back it out a hair and tighten the holding screw and try again.

+1  The mag block might not be installed quite right.

I forgot to add I thought the same thing about the mag block.  I removed it and it still does the same thing.

It feels like the top of the bolt is hitting the upper or the hammer is sticking.  It functions fine if the hammer is back.  When the hammer is forward the bolt is locked in place and won't move but 1/2" or so.

Do you have a dpms hammer from your LPK still laying around? If so install that.  DPMS hammers work fine with RRA/Colt conversions.  Let us know if that fixes the problem.

I didn't think about that.  I will see what happens and let you know.

Thanks.

Edit:

Changed out the hammer and it works fine now.
