Im looking for an SBR upper to put my EVO9 on. Ive noticed a few that have a barrel of about 3-5 inches and then a shroud/grip extending over the suppressor. Can anyone point me in the direction of who makes these uppers. Ive emailed a couple folks on here but never heard back from them. Makes me not want to send them any money for a product.

Spikes Tactical can build uppers with short barrels (5-7") and put a carbine shroud that will partially cover your suppressor.  One thing to think about is that if you decide to shoot it without the EVO 9, it is then difficult to screw on a thread protector or flash hider/muzzle brake because your shroud is covering the end of the barrel.

Most people are using the 5" TROS 3 lug barrel.  Then you put a CAR length rail over it.  However, only certain suppressors will fit under certain handguards.  YHM and the Daniel Defense are the ones you usually see.  Not the DD lite rail, just the standard rail.

Suppressors are usually the SWR Trident 9 or the QD3which have a diameter of 1.3 inches.

There may be others that will work.  I know those two will not fit under a Larue or a DD Lite Rail.

Henry at Title 2 can build you and upper, so I'm told.

I just looke up the Evo9 and it is 1.25" diameter so it should work under the YHM or DD rail.  It also says new for 2007 is a 3 lug coupler so it would fit the TROS barrel.  I don't know if you have to buy it with the 3 lug coupler or if there is an adapter to fit to your existing suppressor.  The beauty of the Trident 9 is you can use 3 different mounts.

Thanks for the info, thats a good point about the ability to take the can off and put it back on under the handguards. Ive got a glock 19 as primary host right now. I would need to see if TROS can make a 1/2x28 threaded barrel.

How does your rifle fire when the can is removed?? does the muzzle blast hurt the handguards? Do you almost have to always have the can on the end??

I have only seen the TROS 3 lug barrels.  9.25" and 5".  I would not "SD" a rifle if I wanted to shoot it unsuppressed.

That is not my rifle above but is the one shown on the SWR website.

I am in process right now Form 4 for getting the silencer and Form 1 SBR my 9mm lower.
But I don't plan to shoot it unsupressed.  If I want to shoot 9mm unsuppressed I will get a normal 10.5" upper.

I bought a 9.25" so I could shoot my SBR without a suppressor.  I think I did that once.  I am now waiting on a 5".  Once you get your supppressor I doubt you will want to shoot without it.

Yep, I agree.  Luckily, bigcraig put me on the right path.  Probably saved me from wasting some money on barrels and setups I would never use.
