on a dedicated 9mm upper, I assume there is no point to a gas tube? |

Well, you can use a stub of a tube in the FSB to keep the handguard from spinning around. BSW or a roll pin. Or a piece of brass rod. The point is that while you don't need a gas tube, the tube does serve a purpose other than transporting gas to the bolt carrier. While I haven't had a problem with my 9mm upper, if the handguards seemed even a little loose, I'd run to the hobby shop and buy brass rod pretty much right away. |
