i have an A1 upper that has no forge codes or Colt proofs the only marking on the barrel is MP on the right side between the FSB legs anybody got any ideas as to who the maker is?

MP just means magnetic particle that is sometimes between the legs of the FSB. did you check up close for the right front of the handle for C proof mark?

i checked it out with a jewellers loupe, no proofs in that location

Without the "C" that may be a '66 - '69 Colt barrel according to Retro Black Rifle. Regarding the upper, your guess is as good as mine...
