This may sound like a stupid question for some of you, but how do you remove the flash hider on a DPMS upper? It is a pre-ban style upper. It has a crush washer (I would assume thats what it's called) behind the A2 flash hider, so I don't think it is pinned on. I bought a Smith Vortex Flash Eliminator to replace the A2 & cannot get the A2 to move. Need some help before I break something! Thanks in advance, hk45shooter |

Shooter..... Lefty LOOSE....Righty TIGHT Get your upper locked tight in an Armorers Action clamp if ya got one, or a good tight vise. Use a box end wrench and remove the FH. Make sure you use a NEW Crush or Peel Washer and then install the new washer and your new FH on the barrel and torque until you have it lined up in the desired clocking and tightness. |

If it is a true A2 flash suppressor, then it probably isn't permanently attached due to the fact that DPMS never offered a 14.7" barrel. If you have to, sit on the rifle in a padded chair and wrench the hell out of the flash suppressor. It loosens counter-clockwise if you are looking from the muzzle end. |

Okay, just got home from work & I got it loose. Now the washer will not slip over the threads! I guess I will have to get the Dremel out & cut it off!! The instructions that came with the Vortex said not to use any washer, & that it is not a timed piece. thanks for the replies guys hk45shooter |
