I'm going to thread a post-ban barrel to install an A2 flash suppressor.  I've got the diameter and pitch, (1/2" x 28 tpi) but how long should the threads extend?  Specifically, what should be the distance from the shoulder to the muzzle (dimension "A" below) and what should be the length of the threads (dimension "B" below)?

The internal threads on the A2 I have measure 0.695" deep, but most pictures of threaded barrel ends that I have seen don't look like they have that much thread on them.

If it makes any difference, I plan to use a peel washer.

A = 5/8"
B = anything less than 5/8" (I make it around 9/16"), but when I thread a barrel, I undercut the difference between "A" and "B" to about 0.460" or so, then I thread "B". that way there is no way a threaded item can bottom out on threads.

Thanks mongo001.  What better person than an "Evil Machinist" to answer this question?
