| My new build has an A2 rear sight which is new to me(my last one had A1 sights). Is there a link to a tutorial on them? The elevation is what has me confused. Why are there 2 knobs? The lower one clicks on detents and the upper one just turns infinitely and seems to do nothing. I noticed a threaded hole in the upper knob, is it supposed to have a tiny set screw to lock it to the lower knob after some calibration is made? What do the numbers mean? Hundreds of yards? |
| Someone will chime in with more technical descriptions, but if you have a mil-spec sight, the bottom drum is elevation, you zero at two clicks below 6/3 or 8/3 depending on your sight. Change the front sight post to match the elevation from - two clicks for 100 yards. The knob on the right is windage. If you take the sight and flip it back, you should see a little notch on the top of the aperture, it should align somehow with the notches on the base of the rear sight to give you some idea of the windage. Cranking on the right knob you can slowly watch the windage move the rear sight right and left. |
