I got a brand new lower with an A2 stock.

The "pad" (part wiht the trap door at back of buttstock) is on crooked, it sticks up over the top of the stock 1/16" to 1/8".  It is very noticable and looks bad.

Is this normal with A2 stocks?  Is this something that can cause problems?

Should this even be bothering me?  What would you do?

Sounds about right.

This is not normal in my experience.
The screw that secures the stock to the receiver extension tube is self-centering in the butt plate.
A 1/16” might work, but I can’t see 1/8” being alright.

It isn't supposed to be that way, but it's all too common for the buttplate to not quite fit right (eta: especially if it's a DPMS stock). It won't cause any problems, exceptr for looking kind of "off". When I had an A2 stock, mine was the same way. I sanded down the buttplate to match the stock.

It ins't a DPMS, it's from a highly respected top tier manufacturer, which is why it's bugging me.  They told me that I could pay to ship the entire lower back to them (maybe they don't know how annoying and expensive it is to ship an omgfirearm as a non-ffl holder?) even though I requested to BUY the required parts (butt plate and A2 stock body) then be reimbursed once the ill fitting parts were returned.

I just ordered a new buttplate, along with a new upper screw (I messed up the original using the wrong screwdriver) for a total of $9.  If the new buttplate doesn't fit I'll sand one of them to fit the stock.  Lame that I have to deal with this with a $400 complete lower from a big name...

Belt sand to match stock, just like fitting a recoil pad to a wood stock.
