Folks, I just picked this up on the EE.  I'd like to try to ID it and would like opinions on the pivot pin lug.   The finish was worn off so I tried it on my RRA rifle here in the car. It hits when opening it up.  I can snap it on the lower but I can't pivot it open.  Since the finish is already trashed, any problems with clearancing it out a bit?  It already left a mark on one lower, don't want to gouge any others.

Only marks are in the pics.  The front of the upper has a N R stamped above the gas tube hole and the obvious forge mark.  I have no other info on it other than that issue with it rubbing the lower wasn't disclosed in the EE ad!

Thanks in Advance

I would get on the sellers ass and ask for a return and refund.

Yep. I would definitely be contacting the seller.

I see 2 areas of wear that I've never seen before.

Definitely appears out of spec...hopefully, you won't have issues getting your cash back.

The hinge hole has a lot of meat on it, and the wear is in a place where no one will see it.  I have a Colt upper that does the same thing on a Stag lower.  If you got it at a good price, and IF it matches up in all other respects, I would just take the MINIMUM off that will give it clearance, and put some AlumiBlack on it.  If you paid almost full price, give the guy an email.  See what he offers, before you get tough.

Get your money back!

It's definately out of spec.

Who knows what other problems will appear when you
assemble and fire it?

Try it on another lower first.

It fits the RRA lower nicely, just that rub area!  I'll try it on some other lowers but eitherway, I'll probably clearance it just enough and color it back.  I have a gray A2 lower, maybe this would be a good candidate to get refinished in gray.

+1
It's not unusual for RRA's to not fit even their own uppers / lowers without some force

The receiver is a Colt receiver.  The were marked "C AF" and often when stuff was demilled, the "C" was ground off.  If you look close, you may see some file or grind marks above the "AF".  The "NR" was probably stamped in some time during use.  Not sure what it would mean.  I've never seen that particular stamp above a gas tube hole before.  It may be some armorer specific marking which only means something to that particular armorer.

It won't be an issue to remove some material to make that fit better as long as you don't get carried away or have to remove alot.
