What diameter does the barrel have to be to attach a standard A2 flashider?

Standard M16 theaded barrel, it'll work on any 'preban' barrel.

I just measured the OD of my barrel.  It is .700 in.  Will this work?

Yes the barrel when threaded is turned down before threading, so the threads are all the same, M16, M16A1 and M16A2.

1/2" x 28tpi is the standard threading. (I think...)

Because I'm going .300 Fireball on my new "no ban" build I got stuck with the A2 Flash Hider. I really wanted an A1 but the .300FB barrel has the same thread cuts as the 9mm barrel(I think it's 1/2x38tpi if memory serves) that way you can't thread a 5.56mm FH on the barrel and block it with the smaller whole.  I really don't think that barrel has much to do with it, it's the threads on the end of the barrel. As long as they're 1/2x28tpi you'll be good to go, unless you get stuck like I  did with the 1/2x38tpi.  Does anyone know if Phantoms come in 1/2x38tpi with the larger whole for the 30cal. round?

P.S.
Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack.
