My buddy has a colt a2 rifle that he wants to modernize. Any suggestions what he should put on it? Change to collapsible stock, new bcg perhaps? What do y'all think?

I'd go with this.

What is he going to replace, versus what would be left?  And then he'd have a franken gun instead of a Colt.  Anything more than a straight upper swap (i.e. buffer tube & stock) I would seriously consider just building a new one.

He's bored with it and wants new furniture, also it doesn't cycle properly. Not enough money for a new build.

I agree with the hive that your buddy should keep the Colt stock.  I've butchered more than a few factory Colts and Bushys in my younger days and now payin' through the nose to get those rifles back to OEM specs.
