| I want to put together an A3 Forgery. I was looking at the Colt 6700 or BM A3. What other rifles are a good option . I got to see a RRA and was not to impressed with the finish. I have been looking for a Colt, but can't seem to find one. Will Colt make a pre-ban config 6700 again? |
+1 I think you mean you want a A4gery. An M16A2 and M16A3 are identical looking from the outside, both use M16A2 upper receivers. The M16A3s lower is marked safe-semi-auto instead of the A2s safe-semi-burst. Bushmaster confused the matter even worse because they call their flat top ARs A3s. M16A4s have the flat tops. |
And still noone has answered  Colt is not currently making 6700's with the bayonet lug/Flash hider. Who knows if they will eventually. Colt is saying they won't right now. The M-16A4s currently being used are made by FN , not Colt anyways. Not sure how close you want the "A4gery" to be. For mine I got a USGI 1/7" FN Barrel, then got a numbered flattop upper on EE. I barreled it myself (well Hoplophile did actually, thanks again BTW). Then I slapped it on a bushmaster lower with the standard A2 stock. I also put on the Knights M5 RAS rails on the front. It's hard to come closer to the A4 then that. I need a better pic:  |
Some of the items contained in the Government's M16A4 TDP are proprietary to Colt's. Almost half of the M16A4's delivered so far were made by Colt's. Last Colt's contract I can find on-line is DAAE20-98-C-0119. Friend of mine took these picture at my request while he was in Kosovo.

I am looking for the same thing, and just got off the phone with BM. They either are out of stock, or don't like me. Anyone else make a 1:7 gov't profile 20" barrel that we can buy? (As opposed to FNMI or Diemaco or one of the other Untouchables) P.S. Is the trigger backwards on the M203 in the pics above? |
