Thinking about trading my varmint barrel with railed gas block out for a 20" regular barrel with an A2 post. What kinda issues would I run into with the scope having to look thru the sight post? I imagine it would be a blurry mess...

With my Vortex 1-4x, the front sight is visible at 1x, getting closer to 1.5ish it starts to disappear, and at 2-4x I can't see it at all.
Was kind of worried about the front sight being in the way too, but once I tried it, its not an issue at all.

Low power optics may see a ghost image of the FSB.

Well I was planning to put a 3-9x40 scope on it. I tested "view obstruction" with my finger just sorta fooling around and using it to substitue a sight post and it blurred the vision through the scope pretty badly at 3x. I didnt try it at any higher magnifications though.

Just use a low profile or railed gas block on the new barrel

what about the YHM clamp on flip up front sight/gas block assemblies with sling swivel and bayo lug? Are they any good? I'd prefer one attatched with taper pins tho to prevent it from twisting if used in a tactical shooting session or under stressful conditions.

I use a 2-7 Redfield on mine, and even at max power, the FSB is just a faint shadow at the bottom.

Do you have the scope on a riser or high mounts?

Had a cheap 3-9x42 scope with high profile mounts on it laying around and decided to slap it on there and see what happens. Mounted up fine and sits right over the rear MBUS with perfect clearance when its folded down and even on 3x you can't see the FSB in the scope. Looks like problem solved

Not a big problem, put a scope on it and then maybe a green laser on a 45 degree mount under the scope on the  same rail.
