I was hoping someone could help me out. I tried to upgrade the forearm on my AA carbine with a Fortis Rev Rail. I had a hard time taking off the gas block and ended up taking it to a gunsmith for removal (bit of a drive).

Thinking I could finish the job on my own, I went ahead and tried re-installing the gasblock. However, one of the pins refuses to go past a certain point (see picture below). I've been hammering away at the pin with 24oz ball peen hammer and 5/32 punch for quite some time (see poor nicked rail), but it won't budge.

I am able to install the rail as-is, but judging by this picture, would the gun still safely function? or should I seek the aid of a gunsmith (long drive) to finish the job?

I also just upgraded the hand guard on my AA rifle. When I was reinstalling the gas block and driving the pins back through I ran into a similar problem. All I did was flip the pin around so that the opposite end was going into the barrel. I think I remember reading somewhere that the pins are tapered, which is why i tried flipping the pin around. It seemed to work. The pin went in easily after trying that. I hope that helps.
