So I'm looking to buy an ACOG TA33R-8.  Botach's website has them for $800 which is the cheapest I can find anywhere. But I have heard some really bad things about them.  Are they ok to deal with?  The other way I may go is with Larue's website which has them for $963 with the LT105 mount ($100) which I want anyway and they have a solid reputation.  What should I do?

its hit or miss.  If your order gets delayed or is in question, good luck, b/c their customer service is absolute crap.  When they answer the phone, it sounds like you dialed the number for an east hollywood hair salon.   If your order gets shipped right away, they're a great company

I have had very good service from Botach on numerous orders, but never anything that pricey.

worth the extra for the larue one.  ML stands behind his products and the customer service is top notch.  I have never heard an upset customer story regarding larue, i cant say the same for botach

Between the two, I'd go LaRue in a heartbeat for the setup you desire...it costs a bit more, but it will be at your door in less than a week, and come with a ton of goodies like hats, bumper stickers and dillo dust!

Ya.  I'm settled on Larue.  The last thing I want is a headache with my pricey optic.  See how important reputation is.

I once had an issue with a Larue order.

LT overnight air mailed me the replacement.  That cost them about 5x the amount of profit they would have made off the order.  They took a loss to make it right.

Buy from Larue.  No hassle, and in the rare event of a mistake, they will make things right.
