I am wondering if the flat top mount that came with my ACOG TA01NSN will repeat zero?

Im my experience (6 years) it does.  Others will tell you you need a LaRue.  I heve all three (Trijicon, ARMS, and LaRue) they all return to zero for me.

good question as i wonder that too.

My thought would be no because all the QD mounts list repeat zero as an upgrade.

The mount is alot better than my Eotech and that never needed more than a click or two to get back to zero.

I also always mount an an optic followng the same procedure but who knows if that helps at all.

I will be at the range soon and give it a try as i just received my acog in ta51 mount.

I just can't afford to remove it for iron site practice if I can't count on the ACOG after reinstallation.

It's not like it's going to be way off.  As long as you mount it in the same slot each time and forward in the slot you'll be within a MOA easy.

Why forward in the slot?

Why forward in the slot?

Because when your gun moves under recoil, the optic is forced forward.  Think about what it's like to stop suddenly in a car.  The same differential of acceleration is happening.

By mounting it forward in the slot, you guarantee it won't move under recoil, so that the positioning is consistent.
