I while back I bought a flattop mount for my compact ACOG. It was a cheap mount I picked up somewhere online. It worked great for a while until today at the range I noticed it was coming loose, I tightened the two thumbscrews, zeroed the scope, and after about an hour later it loosened again. I got home and decided to get rid of the flattop mount and put it on a detchable carry handle I had laying around. I could not separate the ACOG from the mount. I tried so hard that I stripped the screw that holds it to the mount. What can I do to remove it from the mount. Should I contact Trijicon, and see if they can help?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Steve.

i kind of doubt there will be anything Trijicon could/would do unless you were using their mount. I really dont know what to suggest, other than gettind some of that stuff that loosens screws and some of that gooey/gritty stuff to squirt into the stripped screw heads and trying again? When you succeed in seperating the mount from the optic, get a Trijicon mount, or beter yet, an ARMS mount and forget about your troubles.

What can you use to remove a stripped screw? This is pissing me off. I'm looking for the site I bought the mount from to see what they say.

You may have to drill it out.  Any good gunsmith or machinist should be able to do it for you.  If you have the equipment you should be able to do it yourself if you have the skills.  Be careful....you could damage the scope if you're not careful.

You'll need an ez-out to remove the stripped screw. If that won't work, take it to a gunsmith or a qualified machinist. In any case, you have fvcked up. Putting the ACOG on a carry handle is not a great idea. Been there, done that. The carry handle mount puts the scope too high and too far forward. After the stripped screw situation is resolved, buy a Trijicon mount for the flat-top and you will be happy.

I disagree and think the Comp ACOG mounted inside the groove of the carry handle is actually pretty nice. It sits quite low, you retain the use of your iron sights, and using a propper nose to charging handle cheek weld, gives good position for the correct eye releif. Mounting to the flat top is another good option... but for a Compact ACOG, carry handle is also a viable option.

This sucks, I have no tools and I wouldn't know what to do even if I had them. Can anyone recommend someone (preferably someone on this board) who can do the work. Where I live, good gunsmiths are hard to find. I'd rather not mess with it myself, I'll only make it worse.

Thanks.
Steve.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont do anything, gosh I hope I caught you in time. Ok awhile back I took some very bad advise and used some blue locktight to mount my TAO1 to my flat top mount TA51. I couldnt get mine off either and stripped the screws. I tried an easyout but there is no way to hold the sight without damaging it. I called Trijicon, after some very polite snickers I think, They said ship it back to them. I really screwed mine up but they replace the entire site housing for $100.00 and return shipping. Now they may be more now, due to limited resources due to war, but let them take care of you, their customer service is excellant. PS.Carry handle mounting works well with this sight, a friend has this set up with the 1.5X24 model and is excellant.
good luck

You didn't mention locktite, if you did locktite the screws use a small soldering gun to heat the screw and break the seal. It should come out if there is enough to get hold of.

Shoot well,
