I'm sure you noticed with the new Spec-War mount, if the O2000 dot fails, we now can use the NSN's front site post to get on target at 25m or so. VERY nice. It works, try it. I wonder if they knew this upon initial design? Duffy are you telling me the TA01 NSN Iron Back up Sights Co-wittness with the optima -- Cool |

Hehe this thread brought back many NSN Optima mount conspirators [:d] Vic and Ink, I have noticed (in annoyance actually) that at night the front sight of the TA01NSN kind of gets in the way of the red dot, damn thing is lit up like a Christmas tree lol. I'll take a pic for you guys, I have a Trijicon night sight in the front sight tower, that and the front sight of the ACOG, AND the red dot, it's quite a show [%|] But at least with what I have, I can't co-witness the red dot with the ACOG's front sight, I'm glad though, I remember when I used to have the rear ghost ring it used to shoot high, my red dot is sighted in for 50 yards and it's dead on. Phillip it's a Knights Armament (KAC) RAS II, KAC forward grip, KAC flash light mount and SureFire 6P. |

Hmmm, I guess the little notch for windage adjustment could be used as a rudimentary rear sight (like an AK rear sight) to line up the ACOG's front sight...or I can just get an ARMS 19s so I can quickly detach the ACOG and use the 300M BUIS [:)] |

Phillip, Here's what ya need: KAC RAS II KAC 300M backup iron sight KAC flash light mount SureFire 6p (I wanted to get something better but I was cheap [:)]) KAC forward pistol grip TA01NSN (before you go with this scope you should by all means do some research, many, including myself, have found the TA01NSN wanting and feel the TA31 to be a better choice, but the TA31 has got a long waiting list) Optima mount from specwargear.com, not sure where you can get the Optima though. I got everything except the scopes from Wes Grant, email him at or go to MSTN's site www.mstn.biz Have fun shopping [:d] |

I recently put a Surefire 900A on my carbine, buy dont like having to jerry rig my Eacle tac sling on the front end of my rifle. Thanks |

BAC and reticle differences. While more precise, the fine cross hair of TA01 is slow in aiming, can't really be used for short range quick shots. TA31's doughnut/chevron/triangle may not be as precise, with BAC and its shape it's easier to shoot well. I have to position my head in a certain way to use BAC, the dot when used in BAC probably isn't as versatile as the Aimpoint, but it has magnification to balance that, personally I have a hard time using non-magnified scope to shoot beyond 100yds. The ability to identify targets that are beyond clear visual range is reason enough for me to use the ACOG over the Aimpoint. |

Aimpoint is really easy to use and VERY effective under 100 to 200 yards (depending on your shooting preferences) for COM shots. But when you get 150+, ACOGs are generally better, over 200 yards ACOGs are DEFINETELY better. That's why I'm getting a TA31 even though I have Aimpoint. (that way I have justified myself of buying a 20" AR15 [:D]) |
| True true, if the target is a free standing, white with black bull's eys, on a green or sandy background. The problem of using either iron sights or non magnified Reflex type sights is it's difficult to identify your target if it happens to be wearing cammies that blends into the background, if you can't see him you can't very well shoot at him effectively. In a war the bad guys are down range so target ID may not be as important, if you miss your intended target you might (hopefully) hit his friends. For us that may one day defend ourselves with our weapons, there's a huge liability for shooting anyone at all, let alone shooting a bystander. |
| FDCC just had another match today. BTW, it was friggin great! Anyway, the last course was awesome! There must have been 20 targets out there, but probably only half of them were hostile. We used full color picture targets. People people were holding guns, some people were holding cell phones. We had little overlays that went over the target. You could have two of the exact same target, one holding a gun, the other a beer can. The furthest target was about 20 yards away. Now, normally speaking, you'd think the Aimpoint would be the fastest at these ranges, however, I think the magnified optic shooters did better, and did better quicker. Why? Because while non magnified Aimpoint shooters were struggling to see of the dude up in the corner was holding a cell phone or a gun, the ACOG shooters looked, saw what was in the hand, and made the shot (or didnt). Aimpoints are awesome and I will never get rid of mine. But ACOGs and BAC ACOGs specifically just do more. |
| dmuldrew, the sling on the RAS II gun up top is a CQB solutions sling mounted to Knights QD sling mounts on the handgaurds and stock extention. The sling on the SIR gun with the M900 is a Royal Arms Bungee sling mounted to the front sling mount that came with the ARMS SIR and a velcro loop that came with the Bungee Sling. I'm waiting for MagPul to release some of the very fine sling attachments for the M93 stock. Until they do, that vlecro loop will have to do. |
