I've got a brand spanking new TA11 still in it's box along with a 19S mount.

Problem is it's not the ACOG I ordered. However, it's what CCA shipped to me & now I'm stuck with it. (I was under the impression the TA11-C was the correct unit for a 308 flatop as that's what CCA told me)

Question is, does anybody know how (or if it's possible) to have Trijicon change the reticle out or exchange it for a TA11-E as I understand the TA11E is the correct unit for a flatop 308.

The reticle can be switched out; but it is pretty expensive. I'd consider a swap in the EE or just use the TA11 you received.

The difference in impact, even at longer ranges (800m) is probably less than the width of the crosshair.

If I was to just use it, what would the best method of sighting it in be??

So if they sent you the wrong sight why are you stuck with it??

I'd just sight it in per the manual. I haven't looked at the drop on the .308 variants; but on the 5.56mm variants, mounting a carry-handle ACOG on the flattop changes the point of impact by 1" at 200M, 2" at 300M, etc.

At that rate, the difference in point of impact will be less than the thickness of the crosshairs on the BDC. Just play around a bit with shooting at longer ranges and use the top or bottom of the crosshair to compensate.

When shooting 308 through the TA11, you'll be about 5-8" LOW at 400 yards, depending on your load, and the drop relative to the reticle will get worse with distance.     If it were me, I'd definitely send it back.

As for mounting, I've tried the #19S, but prefer the TA51, which is slightly shorter.  My #19S's got "loose" when transferring from one upper to another.

Scratch my advice, I wasn't reading closely and thought you received a TA11C instead of a TA11E. There will be a larger difference with the TA11 vs. a TA11C.

Zak, are you sure it wasn't small dimensional deviations between the two uppers? The ARMS mounts are built pretty precisely and don't do well with minor variations in the 1913 spec.

That is one of the major reasons the Larue mounts are getting more popular I think - they allow you to tweak the throw levers yourself to match slightly out-of-spec 1913 rails instead of sending the mount back to ARMS for a thicker pad.

If its new in box, contact Trijicon, explain to them how much of a F***-up CCA is and see if they will do the swap.

Would anyone care to elaborate on who "CCA" is so I can make sure not to do business with them?

CCA is "Coal Creek Armory" . He is the guy "handling" the SEBR group buy.  I have NEVER been so happy when NOT buying a gun.  Too many problems to go into, but you can check out the SEBR in the General forum ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=1&f=122 .
