Is anyone out there really working with this ACOG? Finding it to be a lot faster, or is
it just a lot of hype, and save the couple hun and go with the stndard TA31
platform?

Thanks in advance.

Having worked with both, I feel the RCO models offer no practical advantage to civilian end users over the TA31F.

Now if your constantly adjusting fire for indirect weapons systems, having those mil hash marks on the ACOG can be handy.

They are for all practical purpose the same optic save for the extra lines on the reticle of the RCO that will do you no good unless you operate with a fire team.

I have a TA31RCOM4 on my M4 at work, and we have a few COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) TA31Fs.........no difference except the MIL hashmarks for adjusting fires. The TA31RCO does come with an RCO KillFlash, but it certainly doesn't justify the extra price.

I feel like it's targeted at civilian customers who want the "cool factor" of having something that exactly mimics what the military is using. Other than the "cool factor", I don't think it offers much of a practical advantage.

If you ever plan on using it with a clip-on NOD, than the RCO might be beneficial.  I have never tried the RCO specifically, but most definitely prefer my 11J over my 11F with either a PVS-22 or PVS-24 due to the pronounced horizontal lines of the reticle.  What many folks don't realize is that an ACOG reticle (even BAC) will be completely black when used with a clip-on, as the tritium illumination is overpowered by the phosphor screen; basically it is like shooting from an extremely dark area to a very bright one.

I bought mine for the cool factor, and it had a great price to boot.
