| The TA31A is cataloged for the carry handle. The F is cataloged for the flat top. DUH! Can the A be mounted to a flat top upper ? Can a FT mount be purchased for the A model and will the calibrations be the same? The catalog leads me to believe that the " F " ACOG is specially calibrated to a flat top......? |

The "ACOG Gospel" is the best place to start. I use one on the m16A4 clone.
ETA: Using XM193 or similar with a MV of 3250 FPS (from a 20" barrel) a 65 yard zero with keep you within moa of the BDC out to 400 meters in my experience. If I have to shoot past 400 meters, I'll get a different rifle. I have never been able to find an acceptable 62 gr load for the TA31A unfortunately. |

My question to you is, why didn't you get a TA31F which states in the catalog it is for a " flat top " ? Is the " A " & the " F " just model numbers for the different supplied mounts? I got the TA31A because (1) at the time I got it over three years ago it as on sale for $350 less than the TA31F; and (2) since I never intended to use it at distances over 100 yards, the difference in the BDC was not a factor for me. |
