Im looking at the TA11F, TA31A, and the TA31F
I like the eye relief on the TA11F better than the either of the 4x models but I like the FOV on the 4x models better so those two points kind of cancel each other out but the slight edge goes to the 4x models with the better FOV being more important. So that basically narrows it down to reticle patterns I have never seen either in person so its hard to say for certain but from looking online I seem to like the triangle better Triangle or Chevron which do you like better and why And also will I still be able to use the 4x models with their 1.5 inch eye relief and my troy BUIS or will this put the ACOG too far forward? |

FWIW
I used a TA31F on my last trip over the pond and it was a wonderful optic. I will admit though, at times I hated the eye relief and it made some situations a bit difficult to shoot in, such as wearing Goggles, eye protections, or from certain positions. Dont get me wrong, its more than doable but it just takes a little time to ge used to. When I got back I sold my personal TA31F and bought a TA11 with the Donut of death, then boughtr a TA11D with the triangle to compare. I Thought the triangle would be "more accurate", yea, that was until I took it to the range. IMHO I did not find the ability to use the tip of the triangle to aim versus using the donut to be "more Accurate". Now by Accurate, what I mean is practical accuracy. Meaning if you are running and gunning and putting rounds on Steel plates or Sillouettes, down is down........ I thought the donut for me at least was a bit faster in some situations. I suppose if I was bench shooting it might be easier to use the tip for some people, but thats relative to what you feel most comfortable with. I was able to hold the same size groups with both scopes so............. That being said I still prefer the Chevron to the Donut. Another observation was that I did notice that the Triangle got REAL bright on Sunny days. being solid it was a little to much for me. I sold the TA11D and held onto the TA11. NOW, LAst year I bought a TA11E for my AR10 with the Chevron. It was the right price on the EE so I snatched it up. I love this scope beacuse the Chevron, less bright, but better contrast for me. I was also used to the TA31F so it was easy to use and remember. I just bought my 3rd ACOG (well I have had more but buying and selling gets addictive) I got a TA11F from the EE. but am now looking to trade for a TA31RCO or F model because I am just too damn used to the 4X units. I love both the Donut of death and the Chevron, both are perfect for what they are designed to do, it boils down to what you prefer. Dont let someone else tell you what is more accurate. I can almost gaurentee you that even with the tip of the chevron or triangle most people will rarely hold less than 2MOA which is the inner diameter of the Donut. So the question is what retical does your eye train to faster? It may be the donut, or maybe the chevron, unfortunately you'll just have to try them out or buy one and just get used to it. The Beauty of the EE is you can buy and sell and try things out. I have never lost money on a scope, maybe lost a little shipping, but it was worth it to find what works best for me. Good luck and good Shoot'n chuck |

The TA11D was never really designed to be used at night. It is a "low light" and day scope.
If we need a Night vision equiped unit generally the TAO1NSN is used with a PVS14 or better to use at night the Tritium is faint enough as to not burn up the NV too quickly cp |

Have you compared the 11 to the 31 in person? If not, you might want to take a closer look at ER than the reticle or FoV. |

Unfortunately I can’t find any local dealers that offer much of a selection of ACOG’s in stock. Thanks to LOCK_N_LOAD for the reticle picks were you using the 31F with some night vision in the second pick? Anybody have any reticle picks of the TA31A? No NV, just a good sunny summer day. My digital camera actually captured it pretty well. Thats just the field behind the house, the crops were destroyed due to all of the flooding we had here this last summer. As far as the eye relief, I shoot both eyes open most of the time and I do pick up the 4x magnification. Theres a good discussion thread on this topic too, and I wear contacts and also have a slight astigmatism, but the ACOGs work very well for me. Some guys w/ astigm. report they cannot shoot both eyes open and pick up the magnification. Thats why its nice to try them in a shop or a friends first. Ask some of the dealers if they have a personal ACOG that you could check out, one here did. It was a NSN model and thats how I decided that I wanted the fiber optic and looked for a 31F. Another shop had a couple yellow FOs in stock and thats how I decided on red, some prefer the yellow, but he admited that these yellows had set for quite a while.... |

That looks like the ARMS #40 BUIS and ARMS 19S ACOG mount. Bingo!!! Thats what they are. I love the ARMS mount, got it for $60 on the EE and it goes on & off easily, quickly, locks up tight and keeps zero great. The #40 BUIS sits right under the mount w/o issue..... just locktite the nut!!! I already have another #40 and am actively searching for an ACOG for my sons Bushy rifle.... EDIT: Picked up a TA01 FTF today, of course it went on my sons AR!!! |
