I'm considering replacing my aging CompM2 with some kind of ACOG.
The problem is, I don't know much of anything about 1 ACOG vs another. I know I want one with the option to mount a burris/doc like the TA01NSN are usually depicted with.l I have a 14.5 barrel if it makes any difference. Some help would be nice. I was looking at a TA31DOC if anyone knows where to find a good deal... |

Study this for an hour or so. http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/parts_new.cfm?categoryID=3 |
| Olcrow, nice info. I have found over the last couple of months that the 2 rifles i handled at the range (one extensivley) with the Doc optic on top of the ACOG was a little too much. It is a little distracting and makes the gun a little tall on top. My buddy took his off after about 2 weeks and went back to the straight ACOG. He is very quick to hit with it even up close and says he does not miss the distraction. With my trijicon reflex( Also an ACOG) it is only a tad quicker during drills. I was suprised at 1st how quick it is. |

The BAC on certain models can be used for close up work as your buddy is doing. |

I would not recommend mounting the red dot on top of the ACOG. Sits up too high. There are other mounting options if you want to use a red dot in conjunction with an ACOG. LaRue and other companies make offset mounts.
Here is an article that you may find useful: 03designgroup | Trijicon ACOG Considerations |

My Trijicon reflex is also based on this concept. Just true 1X |
