| I'm thinking about getting in on the group buy for an ACOG. Just looking for some addt'l info. Trying to compare features and there are places that have so many different model numbers but the scopes look pretty similar. Any difference between the TA01 and the TA01NSN (model # at Cabela's)? Are there models that work better for flat tops? How much for the flat tops adapters? I was thinking about putting one on an M4. The models that I was considering were the TA01, TA31 and TA31F. Any thoughts or input is apprecited. Thanks. |

It is hard to keep up with all of the different models of ACOGs. I'm just going from memory (you really should research the issues), but I believe that the TA31 has a more forgiving eye relief. The TA01 NSN doesn't have a daylight lit reticle, just tritium for low light conditions. Get on Trijicons website and download the brochure. It lists all of the differences among the ACOGs and give a representation of the day and night reticles.
I wound up getting a TA33 because of the forgiving eye relief and overall size. Mine is going on a carbine too and I wanted to keep it small. I got the horseshoe reticle in green |
| Check out the ACOG brochure, it has pics of all the different ACOGS, reticles, etc. |
| Yes, do look at the brochure, but also do some research. You CANNOT go by the published data regarding eye relief. I read that the published data is based on technical specifications and not actual use. I have also found this to be true. I know that the TA01 has really short eye relief, but the TA44 and TA33 that I just got have much more eye relief than published. I recently read a review/article that discussed the TA01 and TA31 and even that guy said that the eye relief on the TA31 was more forgiving. The best thing to do is to either order from a place that will let you return it or go to a place where you can check them out yourself. |

Check out this thread about the TA33 It starts some time ago with the TA33R8 but by the end of the thread the TA33G-H is mentioned. After trying the TA33, I'm sold on the extra eye relief (vs TA31 series), the ease of use for close and far work with 2 eyes open, and the green horseshoe reticle is sweet! |

Me wants one for this rifle.
this rifle is just a tad heavy and I think some of it is because of the ridiculously heavy Millett. Maybe the TA33 will help? |

Maybe the TA33 will help? I've run the Millet and it's ok for a plinking rifle, but for run and gun I prefer an ACOG. No more updates on the TA33 ... plan on purchasing one as soon as funds become avalible. Had some unexpected bills come up that cut into the funds I had set aside for the TA33. I've got a few TA33's since I wrote that article, but no long term use, use in competition, etc. More as soon as I get a TA33 and run it for a while. |

No problem Brother. More info when it becomes avalible. I just ordered on from LaRue! I called the Monday and they said they were in stock. I sent in a MO so it'll be a little bit before I get it. I'll try to do a review thingy but this is my first ACOG so I won't be able to do a comparative analysis. But I can post pics! |
