Just got a HQ flyer advertising ADCOM 62 gr.  5.56.   I'm always on the lookout for anything under $5/20 since I don't reload (yet).  What is this stuff?

Thanks

I believe that it is military contract ammo.

Most definately made by the UAE and is 'M855' steel core w/o the green paint.

Good and hot--no too accurate (3moa), but good to great plinking ammo.

BTW, $3.97/box 20 at Gander Mtn.

Call AIM surplus and order some Radway Green 63 grain 855 and some Guat 55 grain. Guat is 5.95 per 30, good hot high quality ammo. Mine looked like it was made yesterday, makes XM stuff look like rejects. Shoots just as well as 193 does.

Thanks for the information.  Please explain to this relative newby  the difference between types 855 and 193, core, weight, both?

Will be in Indy next month and will check out Gander Mtn.

Thanks again.  Don't know if I'm alone (I doubt it), but my two favorite types of rifles are ARs (have 3) and lever guns (have 5).  What did I hear the other day, lever guns are the PC assault rifle?

M855 is 62grain copper jacked, lead core FMJ[or 63 in case of brit ammo] with a steel penetrator in the bullet, is for the faster twists such as the 1/9 and 1/7, will NOT work properly in the older 1/12 twist BBLs and will keyhole quickly as it will not stabilize. M193 is 55 grain copper jacketedlead core FMJ bullet. No penetrator, [nor does it really need it] works for the older 1/12 twist BBLs but can be used in ANY twist with no problems. Both bullets are cannelured for a secure crimp.

I went through a couple mags of this ammo with a 98 headstamp. While I got a couple of blown primers out of my Armalite (223 chamber) barreled rifle my Colt (5.56 chamber) barreled rifle ate it just fine.
