I tried a search but I guess I'm not doing it correctly. Could someone instruct me on how to search?  My question, is there a material benefit to have an adjustable gas block?  I have a 16" hvy SS midlength gas (RRA).  I also have a hvy buffer I can play with.  If you guys concur that an adj gas blk is a good thing, please recommend one.
Oh, I thought of a second question.  Can you melonite SS ?  Waste of $$ or a good thing?  If so, who is the best for that?  Thanks

type "ar15.com adjustable gas block" into google. then do about 3 hours of reading.

yes, there are many benefits as well as some drawbacks, read one or two  threads and they will probably cover all of them.

The short answer is that an adjustable gas block lets you tune the rifle to the minimun amount of gas you need to cycle it eliminating an over gassed situation and less felt recoil.

It seems the two most popular ones right now are the Syrac Ordinance Gen 2 and the SLR Rifleworks Sentry.

I went with the Syrac because I figured if companies like Noveske, Rainier & Black Rain trusted them enough to rebrand them then they must be pretty good.
