Guys, I just have gone through 2k rounds of Federal American Eagle .223 55 Gr FMJ. Stuff runs great as we all know. Well, on the second batch of 1k, I opened 5 boxes and loaded them into mags. For some reason last night (bordem I think) I pulled the round out of the mags and found these guys! Left round has a slight dent, no biggie. Middle round is totally corroded included the bullet itself. The right round has the case mouth turned in when the bullet was seated. Understand how something like this can get out of the factory. This post is just a reminder to check your ammo before loading them in the mags. http://home.comcast.net/~georgeoliveira/images/bad-223.jpg |
| That's why every round that comes into my posession passes through my fingers, the polisher, and my fingers again before being re-packed. I know after that that I don't have to worry. Anybody who shoots some of the shit being passed as quality ammo without at least looking at it is asking for reconstructive surgery. |
Not necessarily. First - AE .223 ships with two different kinds of brass - Lake City (LC) and Federal (FC). The LC is perfectly good brass. The FC actually is *thicker* brass on the case walls. It has a thinner web section. Generally softer brass as well. |
I would have too, I have shot worse looking ammo than that without any issues |
