Mounted a Gen-1 AFG on a cribine length rail. I let the front extend out the the lug, to get slightly more reach. Is there an AFG pic thread? I am curious if anyone else runs this that far out. Only concern is a potential snag?

There was a certain amount of discussion about how they were supposed to be used on middy length uppers at the very least and preferably rifle length uppers. Other people claimed that once they bought the unit they could put it on any damned thing they wanted. It was great fun. I had one on a carbine for a while, my wrists don't bend easily anymore and it was comfortable, but I went with a Magpul vertical grip and moved the angled grip to a rifle. I use the front sling on my carbines, so I never thought to run it that far forward, but I bet it's more better than sucked further back towards the 'correct' position. And it sure makes my wrist happier to use the angled unit than grabbing a flat horizontal forearm grip. |

Only concern is a potential snag? Thanks Bob http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6020/5997028248_0759ce15a6.jpg I like it. Im 6'4, and the car rail is too short for my liking. I moved the grip forward, but I'm concerned about the hot barrel and FSB when shooting. planning on eventually getting a low profile gas block and a rifle length rail. In the mean time, this set up works for me, but I have to be conscious about keeping my thumb wrapped around the rail itself, or on the tapeswitch I have mounted at 11:00. No problems with snags, so far ETA better pic First, you will hear it... hssssssssssssssss Then, you will feel it..... Eeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyoooooooooowwwwwwwwwww Then, you will smell it....... and it will not smell like....Victory.... I'd definately get a lo pro block and a longer rail if you have long arms. Buy once so you don't REALLY cry... But if it works for you, go for it. |

No problems with my AFG1 mounted like yours, I usually wear shooting gloves anyway so no issues with a hot FSB, the right side of my FSB is blocked by my Surefire light so no problem there either.
I have my sling mounted on the rear end of my left rail close to the delta ring so no snagging at all. I've got a pic of my carbine posted at the bottom of this thread. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_19/541602_Foregrip_for_a_Colt_LE6490.html&page=1&anc=bottom#bottom |
