I dunno what happened. I've been a real AK fanatic for the past 20 years (and I still am).  Done a few home builds (bent and welded AK receivers from a flat for builds) and I've owned a few AR's.  But I just picked up a new one (Bushmaster M4 style 14.5" with very slim handguard) and I'll tell you what.... it's soooo light, so small, light recoil.... and to add, a .22LR drop in conversion.  Well, it's become my favorite rifle.  I don't know what else to say but I am in love with it.  Not planning on selling of my AK's but my first grab if the SHTF is going to be the AR... shit I feel like a complete sellout.

Only thing that sucks is my ammo stockpile is all 7.62.

Welcome to the light. I feel that both rifles have their place. Right now the only AK I have is a converted Saiga 308. It'll probably be with me for a while.

I was the same way. I just assembled my first AR now it has become my favorite. Good thing is that the AR and the AKs share the same ammo , and now I am in the starting phase of my 5.556/223 build.

I am looking at a pre-ban IMI Galil right now, it will be my first AK variant.

I don't know why, but I have a serious hard on for a Galil.

The fact that it's chambered in a caliber that I'm already into is pretty much sealing the deal for me.

I know they are heavy, and a lot of people don't care for the sights, but I want one anyway.

I have spent my time on Dark Side and love my AK's.  For the past year or so I have been spending more time fondling the AR's.

Maybe I have brought balance to the Force?

Hah no thanks I am keeping it :)

After all if the there is a disaster like Katrina and I am at risk of having my weapon confiscated my moronic govt officials while on the move, it'll be one of my $200 AK builds not my AR

Worst part is I sold a case of 5.56 when I sold my last AR.  But then  bought another AR and smacked myself in the forehead for selling off the ammo.

The most interesting difference between ARs and AKs is the accessories. The accessories for the AK will cost roughly fifteen dollars. The AR's accessories will be worth about nine times that of the rifle.

Nothing wrong with having a favorite of both!

My "Practical" AKM that I built and finsihed myself.

And my favorite AR15. My much mod'd Oly Plinker. Did it all myself too.

Variety is the spice of life!

It's a hard on worth having.  Having a Galil for your first AK type rifle is some mighty good taste. I love mine. They are not fancy. No rails and bells and whistles but they are built like a tank.  And you can run it over with a tank and it will still work!

Both the AK and AR are excellent weapons. No gunsafe would be complete without both.

From a high of three AKs, I'm now down to one... a Maadi with hardly any finish on it.   An OK shooter, and my house gun for a while; I'll keep it
for good at this point.   My SKS Chinese may go by the board soon though,  cuz  there's always more AR stuff to buy !
