Completed my very first, one and only AR-15 build about a month ago. Shoots pretty good not that I have much to gauge it with, but its my first and and thus I will try and shoot the sh!t out of it. It has a DPMS lower parts kits and the trigger is as gritty as hell. I have heard goods thing regarding the ALG ACT triggers and the JP Reduced Power Spring Kit. I'm on a budget and from what I can tell this is a worthy upgrade from the stock trigger. Is anybody else running this same setup. Once I get the ALG ACT, should I bother with the JP Reduced Power Spring Kit?

I've got several ALG's and I like them. You can go for the JP springs if you like, or you can tweak the head of your hammer spring similar to the JP geometry, and that will get you most of the way there.
Since it's your first AR, I'd buy the ALG and try it, then decide if you want to reduce the trigger pull further. |

I run the ALG in all our systems. ALG+Red springs for the 'run and gun' set ups but for SAPR builds I did switch to the yellow spring kit. I get a crisp 5-5.5# and very crisp 3.5-4.0# respectively with those set ups. The ALG+Yellow is good enough I can reasonably reliably shot sub moa with it. YMMV of course.
If you can't afford a good high end trigger system (or are setting up multiple family systems like myself) but you got a bad stock LPK then the ALG is a good upgrade. |
| I have the ALG ACT in one of my builds with the JP yellow trigger spring, but after reading bad reviews for the JP hammer spring causing light primer strikes I opted not to use the hammer spring, only the trigger spring whick I like alot. I should not have bought a Geissele trigger for one of my Colts, now nothing even comes close to the pull of that. WOW what a difference. |

I would give them a try.
I had JP yellows and got a few light strikes.. swapped out the to the Red and Yellow combo no problems. Might put them back in at a later date. If you get a light strike.. mod your milspec hammer to a speed hammer and you will be good to go. |

If you have light primer strikes swap out hammer, not trigger spring, with a heavier spring? is that correct? Correct. Hammer spring. You could run a millspec hammer spring, or run a red kit or probably even re-bend your yellow. I think my spring with just a little lighter than others... not sure why I had light strikes... but over all its ZERO of a big deal. Swap springs takes 5 minutes. Im going to cut my hammer and make it into a speed hammer and go dual yellows again. |
