I have a new ALG ACT and I'm trying to decide if i want to use the standard hammer spring or the lighter purple spring.  I haven't been able to find much feedback on the purple springs.  Is anyone using one?  Will it reliably work with most ammo?  Anything it won't work with?  How does it compare to the JP yellow spring?  It seems quite a few people use the JP without issue.

Use the purple spring. It works and provides a slightly lighter pull.

Bill said he did quite a bit of testing on the purple spring and it ran fine with factory MIL-SPEC ammo. I'm sure it would be fine honestly, but I run standard powered springs in my ACT and QMS for peace of mind. Reliability > light pull for me. But I'm sure the purple would work just fine for 99.9 percent of ammunition out there.

I have had mine in for a little over 800 rounds, it has failed to ignite 2 rounds, both times the gun was very dirty from surpressor use, one round was a Nosler defense round the other was wolf gold.  They both went off after striking them again.

Purple spring here, with the ACT. 250 or so rounds so far, no problems whatsoever. M855, M193

No problems with my purple spring either with 855 and 193

Thanks for the replies.  I'll probably give it a try and see how it does.  I shoot mostly xm193 and it sounds like it works ok for that.  Has anyone compared it to the JP yellow?

I am using the Spikes NiB FCG (yellow/red JP springs) and my best friend is using the ACT with purple spring they are hard to tell the difference between the two if at all.  With my eyes close I can tell a slight difference in weight but cannot tell which is which.  Next time I see him I will have to put ours to the gauge and see what the difference is more scientifically.

I will assume the 2 springs are comparible in strenght. I run a ALG with the JP yellow in my 6920. FWIW, it has ran fine for a couple of years and about 500-600 rnds.

My guess, those two rounds didn't misfire because of the light spring.  It's likely the carrier hadn't completely closed because the rifle was dirty and slowed the action down.

I use the purple spring in my ACT. No issues on any ammo I've tried, which includes steel 223, Wolf Gold 223, M193, M855, and some match grade .223 stuff.

That's quite possible , Although it still dented the primer pretty good.
