StormWerkz just introduced a new tall mount for the 180B so it is easier to use regular rifle scopes.
No need for extra high or see-through rings to get the ocular lens to clear the rear sight. Here

One of my customers just got back from Thunder Ranch. Had used the Under Handguard Rail on the Ar-180B and said it really rocked.
Used a Grip-pod with it and zero issues, If there is going to be a heat problem it will be using a carbine at the Ranch, apparently heat was never an issue. I don't know if he is a member here or not. |

| I'm thinking of having my local gunny chop and thread the barrel on my Armalite 180B and get rid of the factory integral brake (preban gun).What I'm wondering is if I cut it down to 14.5 and have him pin the flashhider will I still have enough barrel past the gas block to maintain proper dwell time so the gas system will function correctly.There would be approximately 2.75 inches past the gas port if the barrel were cut to 14.5 inches.I don't want to do anything to jeopardize reliability,so this has me undecided.Have any of you guys ever did this to your 180B? I may just have it cut to 16" and be done with it,but wouldn't mind it being a touch shorter. |

I've added a couple accessories to my rifle since the last time I posted photos. I added a light and I switched over to a Primary Arms M4 red dot sight. I haven't tested the sight on my 180 yet but I did go to the range with it on my 10/22 and it works great. The sight has a riser as part of the mount for it to co-witness with standard AR15 sights but since it won't co-witness with my sights I'm going to remove the riser. |

I'm amazed that Armalite still hasn't given the AR-180B the attention it deserves. They're sitting on a great design. Even if they decided to let the aftermarket R&D the possibility for them, they could have already added a few innovations into a AR-180Charlie by now. |

I did a name change from Gyrodude to tchick. I use tchick on other forums so I decided to change to that here also. Here's a photo of the Primary Arms M4 with the spacer removed. | Having some problems with my AR180B overall gun shoots and handles fine, when the mag is empty and the bolt locks to the rear. When the mag is removed the bolt drops and when I lock the bolt to the rear it does not hold. Is there any parts or modification to be done to fix my problem. Any help will do thanks |
AR 180 Costa Mesa born, bought it from the original owner...he shot 100 times over the last 40+ years...he parted with it because he was getting rid of weapons in his old age. He has a Colt FA A2 sitting in his cabinet also. Offered him $4,000 for it..he almost sold it to me, and he will eventually. The AR 180 is in amazing condition, he had never cleaned it and when I broke it down there was very carbon build-up on the piston..it looks brand new on this inside of the gun.

Anyone tried to SBR a 180? I have seen everything else here but I am looking for the most compact lightweight rifle. AR's will not get there because of the buffer, the SCAR I have is a little heavy even if I cut the barrel down, HKs are a lot heavy so I am thinking about a 180B converted to 6.8 with a 12" barrel. I think the OAL would be around 21" folded and under 6lbs of course the AR Magpul stock and buffer tube may add some weight. I made a few mid length op rods, a barrel is no problem and I think I can take a day and make a 180 bolt.
ETA -tues, barrel and op rod done, need to make a bolt and figure out a rail of some sort. |

Here's mine. She's a Sterling AR-180 I swapped over for my ex's M-4gery I built for her. Oh well, I still have my M-4gery and my son still has his CAR-15/M-4gery so it's not a big loss. Anyways, the one thing that bugs me is the price of original magazines. However, since I have a crap-ton, metric, one of, each, M-16 mags around and the details of how to convert M-16 mags to AR-180 mags, it's not really an issue. I have a couple mags I converted that have some feeding problems but it's no big deal to make more of them, rip the guts out of the bad mags and use them as manual of arms mags that will lock in yet still allow the bolt to be retracted and released like a loaded mag will. Anyways, here she is:
