Okay, I'm on the back stretch of my first build, and I realized something.  I find it a little wasteful that I'm gonna end up buying $60 (maybe more) in tools that I will use almost EXCLUSIVELY for building an AR... not something I will (or can afford) to do twice a week.  Then I realized, there is probably someone in my town sitting there with all the tools gathering dust in his garage who would be elated if I gave him $10 to borrow them for a few days to finish my build.

So here is what I'm thinking.  Maybe it's a good idea, maybe we would run into problems.

We get an initial say, 6 people who are planning a build in the near future.  We purchase (of course suggestions of other items to add are welcome)) an upper action block, a lower action block, maybe the needed roll pin punches (probably Sears lifetime warrantied parts so people can replace them easily locally), a multi tool, stock wrench, and maybe a tube of moly grease.

Then, after the first 6 have had their turn with it.  We tack a thread at the top of this forum for the kit.  People get the kit on a first post first serve basis for a max period of time(maybe a week?).  All they need to do is send a money order for maybe $10  for shipping(of course, we would probably have to keep this in the the 48 CON USA) to the last person who had the kit.  Then, when the person receives the kit, maybe take a quick snapshot to ensure everything in the kit is still in good shape and edit it into their original request post.

Once again, we'd have to rely on the honest people here on the site, but I don't think that'd be a big issue.  If you break it, buy a new one.  And if we buy quality stuff to begin with, we would probably have minimal problems.

What do you guys think?  No promises yet, just testing the waters...anyone else think this is a good idea?  Anyone, like me, doing a first build in the near future wanna go in on this??   As I said, just a thought, but if there's enough people wanting to go in, why not?

Didn't know there was something like that going on... but yeah, could be.
