Im new to the AR world and going to buy a rifle when I make up my mind this week. I just cant decide what brand to get. There are so many and I have shot alot of my buddies and like most of them. I have shot a Stag, Colt, RRA, and a DPMS. I was thinking of going with a RRA.
What is everyone opinion on RRA vs Colt, Stag, and DPMS? Negative or positive. Im going to be target shooting and hunting with it, hogs, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, ect... |

Im going to be target shooting and hunting with it, hogs, coyotes, bobcats, foxes, ect... Why Colt? I can spend $1000 or a little more if necessary on on a base model rifle Several reasons. 1. Colt is a known quantity. You can be very certain that it will work 100% right out of the box and you won't have any problems with it for many many thousands of rounds. Colt is the rifle all others are judged by. 2. Colt has all the good features like magnetic particle inspected bolt and barrel, shot peened bolt, hard chrome lined bore, GI specified black insert in the extractor, properly staked gas key, M16 bolt carrier, taller "F" stamped front sight assembly, and all the features that the government specifies for military rifles. Most other makers only offer some of those features. Some where on this site is a chart that shows what "good" features each maker has. Only Colt has them all. As example not all Rock River Arms rifles have hard chrome lined bores and chambers. 3. You can go down to the local Walmart and for $1097 buy a new Colt LE6920 without a lot of drama and special orders, or scalpers pricing. If your local police department buys semi-auto AR carbines, that's the same rifle you can buy at Walmart. Bottom line, you get a great rifle that will give you no problems in a Colt. Read some of the posts in the AR forums. You'll read a lot of people who have trouble with rifles, but seldom with a Colt. Here's some reading that will help: http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=493 Hopefully someone will post a link to the AR comparison chart. I can't seem to find it. |

| Dont worry the light is WAY more important to me than the laser. Whats the biggest (in lumens) light size they make? I have a 3000 Lumen flashlight that I would love to put on my AR but its way too big and was wondering if they had lights that size (lumens) for AR's? |
