I currently run a .223 upper and a 9mm upper on an Oly Registered Receiver. Both of these calibers and uppers run 100%. I have been messing around with a Ciener .22LR conversion in my .223 bushmaster upper and I have found that with Federal Champion .22LR it will run about 95% of the time. I think that the .22LR is having trouble cocking the heavy M16 hammer spring. My question is if I replace the Hammer spring in the M16 to a Reduced Power spring from Brownells will I still get reliable ignition with the .223 and 9mm?

I don't know firsthand but this site metions how he tweaked his spring and was still able to be reliable with 223.

I don't have any problem with Champions in my AR using an M261.  No failures at all, though the Remington bulk pack .22s acted like crap in it (and everything else I tried them in).

I use the comp trigger & hammer springs from Bushmaster in my 9mm AR and it's fine.  But you know, I noticed a bigger difference in my 223 AR...I think the biggest difference was from the 9mm hammer.

I have not found it necessary to change hammer springs when using any of my Ciener kits or M261 kits.

When using a Ciener kit, following the polishing instructions posted previously, then purchase some of these magazines from Black Dog Machine
