Just checking to see if anyone has been brave enough to try the new ARMS SIR 50M-CV. I know there are plenty of better railed forearms out there and I am NOT trying to start any internet crap about ARMS ( I happen to like SIR systems and their sights). Figured I would ask.

I'm one of the handful of SIR fans like you and was looking at the 50M-CV. I currently have the 46C and love it.

I'd like to get the 50M-CV but $$$ are a bit tight right now. I'm planning a new build and that SIR will fit the bill.

In due time....in due time...

I hear ya! I fell in love with the SIR after seeing it on the cover of a magazine several years ago. I know there are more funtional rails out there but they still look nice and function just fine too. I guess its just not the flavor of the day anymore.

Is the 50M-CV the SOPMOD contract award winner?

Im a Surefire and GG&G rail system guy but love the looks of a SIR.  Whats the difference with the 50M-CV?

It no longer has the top rail that mounts onto the upper receiver for one. Also has a different mounting system I think, based on the Troy/Samson type mount.

Do you still have the older SIR?  I've got one that I just can't get used to.  They have a nice look, but I just can't seem to get into them.

I have an older model sir, and I have always liked the way they felt, and worked. I like the polymer lower.

Other than ARMS webpage touting their "contract", I thought the KAC, Daniel Defense, and ARMS were all awarded a piece of the SOPMOD pie......No?

My understanding is the "whole pie" contract award will be in the next week or two.

Thats my understanding as well.  There has certainly been lots of misinformation on this one from a few sides, but as far as I know, the actual awarding of the contract has NOT been disclosed.

All 3 were included in the heavy trials, but only one will walk away with the prize on this one.

I've been wrong before, we will see how this plays out.  I've got my own opinions & guess, but since they aren't facts, I'll keep them to myself on the contract.

Just what do you get when you order one of the ARMS systems?

I also like the looks of the older SIR systems, but my mounts are set up for mounting ontop of  recver. I dont want to purchase all new mounts just to have the bouns of a FF system.
