I need a little help with the purchase of a scope. I have about $500.00 to spend. I have priced out the Shepherd Scope and the Super Sniper Scopes...looked at a few Leupold Scopes. I am really havind trouble in deciding. I want to shoot up to 1.000yds max. I am rather new at the scope thing..a little advice might help out.

Thanks

Be more specific with your planned use of the rifle.  Are you planning on sitting at a bench/rest and shooting groups, or will you be doing combat-style shooting?  Will you hunt with it?  An optic that's good for one of these is often poor for the others.

In that case, I would be looking at 2-7 or 2-9 power variables.  You can get a Leupold VXII in either range that is fairly inexpensive but will last you your lifetime and not fail you out in the field.  The Tasco SS would be near-useless as a hunting scope, being fixed 10X, and I wouldn't recommend a low-quality variable that won't last.
