First, hello to everyone on this forum. I'm been lurking here for a little while but I'm a first-time poster.
I began my second AR-15 build today by taking possession of a Mega striped lower receiver from my FFL: http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/2559/mega2e.jpg http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/816/mega1tv.jpg I hope to use this thread as a log to keep track of the build process. This is what I know right now: - I'd like to build a carbine to keep my existing 20" AR company - It needs to be NYS AWB compliant - Unlike my first AR which I kept simple, I'm planning on spending more time and resources making this rifle a bit more special Obviously I've got a lot of research to do :) And because everyone likes pics, here's a picture of my first rifle, already completed: http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/2003/smallac.jpg Updates to follow soon! I color-filled the markings on my lower today:
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/6610/colorfill.jpg I used Testors enamel paint and the smallest brush I could find to get the paint into the markings. After the paint mostly dried I used Hoppe's No.9 solvent and plain old paper towels to wipe away the excess. All in all I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. Next will be the lower parts kit. |
