I have been doing research upon research on compensators for my AR-15. My AR is a Core 15 m4 with a 16" barrel. I have a LaRue Tactical 7" FF quad rail, and an Aimpoint Micro T-1 on a LaRue
1/3 co-witness QD mount. I have decided to upgrade from an A2 flash hider to a comp. I have narrowed my selections down to the BattleComp 1.0, BCMGUNFIGHTER Comp Mod 0, and the PWS FSC556. Taking my set up in consideration, which would perform overall better than the others? Is the BC worth the extra $50 compared to the PWS? Please give me personal opinions and experiences. Thank you |

OP, how are you going to use your AR?
Straight up comp, go with the SJC Titan if you want to shell out around $100 Cheap option that is about 80-90% as effective as the Titan - DPMS Jerry Miculek compensator for about $45 I also like the Nordic Corvette Comp for about the same price range as the Miculek. |

The sad thing is that I have $150 store credit for BCM, due to the fact that I returned a Midwest Industries FF rail once I purchased the LaRue. They only comps are BC, BCM, JP, PWS, SureFire, PRI, and a few more. After research, I constantly keep seeing PWS, BC, BCM, and SureFire pop up continuously for excellent comps.
here is a link to the following comps that I can buy :http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Flash-Hiders-and-Compensators-s/43.htm I want the comp to keep the muzzle flat. The noise and blast I can deal with. That is just the nature of a firearm, right? |

Another option for you if money is a concern.

People tell me my FSC556 is rowdy, I've been beside other people using them and never really noticed, I've also had observers comment on a lack of muzzle rise.
To be honest I can't tell a whole lot of difference between in rise between my 18" rifle with it and my 16" carbine with an A2, both stay pretty flat. No experience with the others. I see you're in NC, try to find a local 2 or 3 gun match and see what people are running, shoot the match, meet some people, talk gear, there's a decent chance one or two will let you try theirs. |
| Where exactly would I be able to find a signup form for a 2 or 3 gun match? I have noticed that my carbine length gas system is a little more violent than my buddys' mid-length ARs. This is why I am looking at purchasing a compensator. Are you overall satisfied with your FSC556? |
| so in my personal experience I own a flash hider and compensator for my ar. Flash hider functions flawlessly. My bc compensator however, messes with target acquisition after each shot. It is a little low after each shot fired in rapid succession. Keep in mind I have a scope ring/ flashlight 45 degree rail and magpul mbus sight as well as a rifle length slim line rail and bipod on the front. So it is a little top heavy. Depending on equipped accessories and total weight on the front end, a compensator will effect the downward degree of the barrel greatly. However if your rifle is is not top heavy a compensator will keep the barrel down to almost level after each rapid fire shot... If you do not fire each shot in a rapid fire manner, a compensator may do nicely considering your rifle is not too heavy on the front end. That being said my bc compensator pushes the front end of my rifle downward in a standing position. Which means that it functions pretty well for what it was intended for. |
| Thank you for your feedback on you BC. I have been torn between the BC 1.0 and PWS FSC556. I am just trying to figure out exactly where does the $50 difference come into play? I have researched blogs, articles, reviews, and videos of them both. I have not found anything negative about the FSC556, excluding side blasts. The BC seems to have negative reviews. I do not know if these negative reviews are from "haters" or not. I guess I want a good quality comp for a reasonable price. |
| The reviews are definitely from haters. Or people who do not know what they are talking about because from what I can tell on a lightweight completely carbine style rifle will do nicely. I do like The bcm a lot just with the weight I have on the front end makes the front end drop. This is a 16" barrel too with a13" rail so all the accessories up front are right on the front so it is very top heavy, although complete weight of the rifle is only 8 lbs most of the weight is up front. |
| When I contacted the company builder of my AR, one of the guys there said that he ran a BC 1.0 and absolutely loved it. Yes, it may be great and all, but is it REALLY worth $50 more? I am on the fence to decide between the two. Getting opinions on compensators are just as diverse as the typical AR, AK comparison. Would to prongs on the PWS cause issues with it getting caught on brush? Also, is the BC solid on the bottom to prevent dust kick up while prone? Which would hold up better in the long run? |

Bcm mod 0 (or mod 1 if you want your 14.5 pinned to 16)
Muzzle blast isn't that bad, still worse than an a2, but thats true of any comp Great recoil reduction, and muzzle flash isn't as bad as some others Very well made, and very much worth the money Definitely one of the less obnoxious comps |
