| There are these markings at the end of my AR barrel: S.S. 556. Could anyone tell me what it means? Thank you. |

There might be more writing underneath the handguard on the barrel between the gasport and upper receiver.
Edit* assuming the barrel is on an assembled rifle. Can you take the handguards off via the delta ring. Or if its a freefloat rail, stick a flashlight in and find writing? Im just taking a shot in the dark here |
