I'm looking for an economical forged lower for an AR build. Cheaper the better, just want a lower within spec. Any suggestions?

I think my friend would be willing to pay ~$100 for stripped lower with zombie on side, but if there is something cheaper without zombie stuff, that would be great.

They are basically the same. Pick one with a roll mark you can live with and use it.

Scroll down to see their lower prices.  The "G-15" is forged.  You won't do better than $80.  They've been getting very good reviews from the locals here in 'Vegas.

Roll marks don't matter to me. I have built several with different lowers and I have factory rifles in the safe as well.  I want another lower (cheap-for a beater AR) for a build I am working on. I should have specified, I have been searching prices and wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge of deals right now or ideas where I can get best price.

My friend wants a zombie lower. We both like spikes, but they are back ordered 8-12 months!!!

New Frontier is the reason I need/want another lower. I bought a polymer, against my better judgement, and it looks like crap. The safety lever and may release are really weak plastic and will break, so I was gonna replace them with a real LPK. Then, I figured: Why not get a forged and take the stock off the polymer if I need a LPK anyways. The polymer lower maybe durable enough, but it looks like crap.....especially the way NFA did the serial number.

I'm open to try their forged. How are they?

Spike's Tactical offers a forged lower with a zombie on it. Exactly what you are looking for huh? I have found that their lead times are never as long as advertised.

Well, I will talk to the girl and she what she thinks. They told her 8-12 weeks on the phone. I like Spikes quality.

Riflegear has two versions of the Spikes zombie lower in stock, colorfilled for $115 and non for $125

IMO, spend a little more for the lower you really want vs settling and wishing you'd went with what you really wanted in the first place

Surplus Arms & Ammo lists them on their websight  for $79.99. I have built guns on 3 of theirs with no problems. JR

I didn't think they had a zombie lower but they do have a grim reaper.

Ditto on the SAA lowers. 3 builds so far with them. two with PSA lower build  kits make a complete lower for about 220 bucks.

Actually i just bought a 3 pack of G15 aluminum lowers from new frontier and they are awsome!!  Absolutely clean and locks up completely tight to my Adams arms and 2 palmetto state armory uppers.  They are definitely in perfect spec.  As an added bonus, the rear takedown detent hole is pre tapped for a spring retaining screw.  A mod i do to all my lowers so i can change buffer tubes and sling mounts on a whim.  It's the first lower i've come across to do this from the factory.  They are definitely top notch lowers, i don't think it's even possible to find any better quality.  The price i paid $70 each for a 3 pack is a huge bonus.

Also i got to play with new frontier armory's polymer lower too, i'm not a big fan but that just be my bias of thinking metal > polymer.  I shot a friends gun at the range and it functions, i just don't like it.  A mindset i guess.  Strange though because i'm used to polymer frames and trigger assemblies on my pistols.

Also i own a spikes zombie lower.  The lockup sucks with any upper i have, and is very sloppy.  I have to use an accuwedge on it.  Also the magwell is a little tighter than i'd like, pmag doesn't always drop free and they don't go in as smoothly or quickly.  But function is just like any other lower, it goes bang everytime.  I guess i'm just nitpicking.  This lower and some of spike's unprofessional behavior on this board has turned me against spikes tactical as a company.  New frontier armory seems very professional on their ARFCOM industry page and they seem to check it and respond every 3-4 days.

FYI - NFA, SAA, Spikes, Armalite - all are made by AERO Precision. (but i'm not sure about Spikes custom lowers like the zombie.) AERO's s top quality finish and machining.
