I have been doing some research on 6.8 uppers and have come across a company called AR Performance. I am wondering if anyone here has had dealings with them. From what I have read they seem to be excellent uppers. Especially the 6.8 uppers.
Can anyone verity this? Does anyone own a 6.8 from them? |
| AR Performance is well known for their 6.8 rifles. I've ordered parts from them and they are good to go. I spoke to the owner on the phone once and he comes across as an ass. He was also banned from this site not long ago for posting a customers personal info(address) during a disagreement. I like the SuperBolt that he makes and will continue to do business with him. He is well respected on 68forums.com and has an industry forum there. Its a great site for all things 6.8 |

I haxe a couple of his 6.8 uppers and 5.56 barrels. Good bang for the buck, I can't believe how well they shoot(speed and accuracy)
I've never talked with him on the phone, but we exchanged many emails. From what I've seen one the web, he doesn't like some peeps BS, we all draw the line somewhere, I'll buy more 6.8 and 5.56 barrels from him, and I should have one of his G barrels in about 2 weeks. His super bolts are pretty cool too, most of my 5.56s have them too. |
| finished my first build not long ago using there barrel/bolt combo deal in 7.62x39. great products with no complaints here. contact with them was is a little slow at first when I had questions but once contact was made it was great service and emails for a solid week everyday...will be using this service again 100% |
| I've got two ARP 6.8's, a 7.62x39 and a .264 LBC on its way. I built the guns using ARP Barrel/bolt, both of my 6.8's shoot .5 MOA or better. The 7.62x39 I have only shot factory ammo, still does good. The melonite treatment from ARP is nice, gives it that extra hardness and generally get about 40 fps faster than a non-melonite barrel. |
|
As said, Harrison is super-knowledgeable on the 6.8 SPC II and many other calibers so buy with confidence from ARP.
Please note I think he's running up against supply/demand issues like everybody else so there may be a wait involved. B2 Oh yeah, please ensure you check out the 6.8 Forum as well... Great resource! http://68forums.com/forums/forum.php |
| they are one of the top companies in the 6.8 industry. over at 68forums.com they have their own section you could check out to see some of the praise people give them. For what it's worth I debated between them and bison armory over a year ago. I went with Bison because they had the setup and options i wanted. |

I've ordered 4 5.56 barrels from him with the Melonite treatment, and they are great pipes that eat everything I feed them. I haven't paid more than $180 for a barrel I think. I also had a Stainless SPR barrel fluted by him with the helical flutes, and it took off so much weight, the 18" gun became very well-balanced.
I'm interested to see how his 6.5 barrels/bolt turn out. I would have one already if it had a Grendel chamber. I'm interested to see what pressure the 7.62x39 Super Bolts will take with the Grendel. |

99.9% of us have had great conversations with him. He's been kind and polite, and more than happy to answer even some of my dumb questions that I had, and, go into detail to explain certain things.
Those that have had a different experience most likely gave him a reason. |

I like my 6.8 upper from ARP but would not send business his way again. If he had any sense he would stay off the phone You must have caught him at a bad time or mouthed off. He has always been cool to me on the phone and email. He is trying to find someone to help him out with the phones, the longer he stays on the phone, less work is done in the shop. |

I just bought a 12 port brake from Harrison and would not hesitate sending business his way. We talked in length on the phone and he treated me as though I had just bought a turn key rifle. No complaints here! Brad That 12 port is going to be loud but it sure kills the recoil. That is the same brake on my 6.8, I have the older version where you can block off the ports if needed. |

I dont have helical but I got twisted, goes from where you see now to the end of the barrel. I can't remember who but one of the brands made a patent on the twist fluting so he no longer does it. H has some awesome lathe skills. I need to invent a plexiglass hand guard so all of this isn't covered up. http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/2000ssm6/upper2-1.jpg" target="_blank">http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/2000ssm6/upper2-1.jpg</a> very nice....love the flag the most however.. |

Thanks. The barrel was just one of the parts I wanted in a bad ass rig, it is the nicest AR I have had or seen. I hope to build a SBR soon and want to have Ident laser or cut me a US Flag on the Mega lower. |

It is going on my multi gun rifle so I'll be wearing hearing protection. I can't wait to get it on and try it out.! Yea, he mentioned something about adjustable ones that he sold in the past. He said most guys just ran them wide open so they took the threading step out of the process. H said to basically clock it with the crush washer starting at the 1:30 position. Makes sense to me! I bought my 6.8 from Harrison - a 12.5" with the Superbolt. The most accurate AR I've ever owned, even better than my $2000 6.5 Grendel. Harrison was very nice, pleasant, and accomodating of my requests and questions, and even helped me develop loads for my rifle based on my powder and the length of the barrel.
Buy with confidence. I'm seriously considering getting one of his 6x41 uppers when he starts to offer them. |

I'm amazed to see so many people with issues with H. I have never had a problem with him during my limited interaction. He seemed real genuine, nice, patient, and genuinely interested in my questions. arp is a fine upper, you won't be disappointed I stumbled into one of the threads from his forum in active topics when he was still here. The henderson guy was a total ass to the customer, enough to sour my thoughts of ever buying anything from his company. It was something about the 300 blk and he was absolutely pissed over some barrel issue and went off the handle. And they whole childish thing about AAC mounts...

| I have conducted one transaction with them for a 264 barrel and superbolt. My one phone conversation was enjoyable, and I learned that I could actually build what I really wanted in LH through his input and his capacity. If the barrel and bolt live up to their reputations for the price they were offered, I would buy from them again regardless. Sometimes the people who do the best work are quirky - I choose to live with that to get the best for my money. However, I think the few reports of bad conversations are probably just what happens once in a while when you catch a craftsman who is behind on deadlines and really needs to get something else done. |

Exactly. Just because he might not have the greatest people skills doesn't mean his products aren't top notch. I'm sure someone in this thread has dealt with Mark Larue before. Although the few times I've had to call in he took care of my problems pretty quickly and they were for mistakes I had made during the ordering process. I've ordered a 5.56lw barrel and wish I had the funds to order a 16" 6.8 barrel when he has them in stock but I never luck out. |

And that's all I have to say about that arrogant bastard. EDIT: but I've done worse and he's done more for the shooting industry and the safe guard of the 6.8 than I have. God Bless him. But liike most esoterics, he can come off as an ass and he does that well. Doesn't mean I don't respect him... I'm the biggest ass I know. He just reminds me of... me.

I then ended up kicking him off again for posting a customer's personal info. I have no idea whether he was the most super duper barrels on earth but he's another guy who is his own worst enemy. Almost everyone is good to deal with when there is no problem. Except for a few people like Ciener, if you just buy stuff and there is no hitch almost everyone is pleasant and an okay guy. It is when there is a problem you find out what someone is really like, and some people can have good merchandise, be nice to the customers they like but shoot themselves in the foot by going full retard when there was a problem. There used to be a joke that the best way to get kicked off the site was to be friends with me. It seemed like every weekend I was off the site, or if I got busy with work some friend of mine would be calling or e mailing saying the other staff kicked them off. I would come back to go to bat for them and usually find that they had been abrasive dumbasses while I was gone. Now these are guys I would be perfectly happy having over to my house for dinner with my family, but some people when they get a keyboard in front of them let their inner jerk loose.

| I've sent a couple dozen guys his way and all of them told me how pleased they were with their purchase. Harrison is a pleasure to do business with and even stepped away from his crazy workload the other day to answer one of my many stupid questions. Hands down, his 68 is my favorite of the bunch. |
|
Aimless summed it up better than I could.
Harrison was awesome until I had to send an upper back. I was seeing pressure signs well below the claimed velocities for the upper and asked if he could take a look at it. He was a supreme dink about the whole process, claimed the upper was fine but then later said he had changed out the bolt. The upper came back to me with a damaged forward assist and he claimed I had broken the upper and sent it back to him that way. His wife apologized saying a lot of uppers had the tear drop forward assists broken during shipping and that he was grumpy because his mother was coming to stay with them or some nonsense...... In the end the upper still does not perform as well as expected, has a broken forward assist, and I paid twice to ship it across country. |
