Well, I finally got my build done. Thanks to all who put up with me for so long. Parts came from Del-Ton yesterday, although I was still on the way home from college, but today, she got put together. The gun has a DPMS lower, and is paired with a Del-Ton A2 rifle kit. Total cost was $606 dollars, not counting magazines. I got three USGI mags at $10 each, and was lucky enough to find one LEO only marked one. Total time took 3 hours, although I was being distracted by teh Busch race. Could have gone much quicker. Spent probably a half hour loking for a missing hammer pin and trigger roll pin. To anyone considering building, I would definitely reccomend roll pin punches. Anyway, here are some pics. http://66.188.31.111:81/images/ar15%20009.jpg http://66.188.31.111:81/images/ar15%20010.jpg http://66.188.31.111:81/images/ar15%20011.jpg http://66.188.31.111:81/images/ar15%20012.jpg http://66.188.31.111:81/images/ar15%20013.jpg Finish doesn't exactly match, and the selector and trigger really don't match. But at over a $250 savings from the lowest priced Bushy and RRA that I could find, I don't mind. Question 1: there is a bit of a wiggle between the lower and upper when connected. Is that a concern? Question 2: anywhere I can download the 25-yard sightin targets? |
| Every colt and bushy I looked at while shopping far my ar was lose fitting between upper and lower. After finding AR15.com Idecided to build my own and got lucky on a perfect fit up between a cav arms upper and ameetec lower. Colors even matched perfectly. Don't swet the wiggle, it's normal and some seem to think it's good. Don't know where to get a zero grid but here's a link to a good way to zero an a-2 sight. http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw |
Congrats on the build and looks good. The Maryland AR15 shooters site is a good reference for sighting in an AR. I get my targets from Wally World. here is a clickable link....groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/zeroingmethods.msnw edited to say: Just look down the sidebar for "zeroing methods". Looks like no matter what link is used, it takes you to the same start page.

Tighten the screw in the back down hard. You did put the A2 spacer in there, on the end of the buffer tube, right? |
