Next month I have a chance to go prairie dog hunting, so it is time for a scope.  When I tried the scope from my deer rifle it was not very comfortable.  I could not get the scope far enough from my face.  I know that I could just buy an extended mount, but I am wondering if any good scopes have a more comfortable relief that i could use with my existing mount.  I have a leupold with 4" relief right now.

This is a problem with many scopes, especially when mounted directly to the rail with rings.  Likewise, illuminated or AO scopes with long eyepieces have the same problem.  This is why one-piece mounts with forward offset are popular on ARs.

Another option is to use a longer buttstock, but that gets into your whole style of shooting.
