I have been troubleshooting this build for sometime and I noticed this wear on the hammer and I looked at my other AR's and none of them have this much wear and the wear that they do have is uniform across the hammer, but this hammer is worn on the upper right corner (looking down the barrel) and the wear on the face of the hammer is on the right side.
The issue with the weapon is I'm getting failure to eject, and watching the bcg, it barely moves back and makes almost a thud sound when it fires. Almost like something is stoping it, but the thing cycles if I pull the charging handle. I have checked the head space with the go/no gauges and that checks fine. The bcg has no binding in the upper and is nicely lubricated. The weapon charges fine while pulling the charging handle and doesn't feel like anything rubbing in an odd way. I have moved the old gas block around to make sure it was perfectly centered, I ended up getting a new troy gas block because I like how tight these fit, so I had to heat it up to get it on the barrel and I have a new gas tube too. So I don't believe it's a gas leak at the block. I can blow in the gas tube and I don't feel anything blocking the airflow. I have switched out different buffer springs and buffer and same result. My father in law liked the look of my build so much, I helped him get all the exact parts as mine has and once we put it together, it cycles with no issues, so what am I missing? Changed bcg and same thing. Ended up putting the barrel on a new upper (since I really didn't like the dpms slick upper look) and same deal. It's a 24inch JSE bull barrel Any ideas? Couple of pictures of the hammer wear and could this be my problem? http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q721/broomy111/7E46F653-113A-40D1-BB1A-BA280A3ED228_zpstz6ew06u.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q721/broomy111/598FF75B-96F0-4393-94DC-73DFE0735AA1_zps4giw9ko6.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q721/broomy111/CF204B07-3E35-47BF-ACC8-778DFA458B12_zpsj8uvaejt.jpg |
