Can anyone tell me what die to use on an AK (MAK90) muzzle (1/2" dia. after threads turned) to thread for an AR15 flash hider? Is there a flash hider marketed that fits the AR muzzle's thread pitch but designed for 7.62x39? Any info appreciated.

1/2-28.
I don't know if you would be able to find a die with that thread pitch at your local hardware store though. Maybe try Brownell's, or an industrial supply house.
No idea on a f/h for a 7.62. maybe one for a 6.8 SPC, or 9mm. They aren't the same thread size as one for a 5.56 weapon though.
Make sure that whatever f/h you decide to use, has a hole in it big enough for the bullet to pass through. It could make for an exciting range trip, if the hole is a little small.

Thanks for the info, VAPORTRAIL. Yes, a very exciting range trip indeed, OUCH!!! I'll call Brownells and Midway.

I have a die that I got from Brownell's for like $15 a while back.  I tried forever to get a local place to get one in and their supplier just looked at them funny.

I don't know abot FH's...some look like they would let a .30 pill pass, but until I see a 5.56 phantom or a Vortex on a 7.62 ak I ain't going to place any bets.

Just drill the hole bigger.  I think I got my 1/2 28 die from enco, or was it msc.

I figured I'd probably have to improvise and stick it in the drill press to match bore dia., but should I soften or round the edge after drilling, or is that overkill.
