I decided to build my upper and I'm looking at some tools I may need. What I found at bass pro was a Multi tool with torque wrench for $40, and a Upper receiver vise block for $30. Could you guys tell me if they are worth it, last awhile. Or should I be looking at different tools. Here they are:
Multi tool w/Torque wrench Upper receiver vise clamp Any other tools that maybe helpful? Thanks. |

I was looking for some vise blocks last month and picked these up.
It's a great deal and I wanted to give this guy props. He's a good guy with a good product. Super fast communication and quick shipping. I've used the upper and lower blocks to put together a lower and disassemble an upper. Nice fit, durable blocks that are hard, and the pins were perfect when hooking in the upper. These blocks are good to go. Try them out, you won't be disappointed. I've seen a couple of other guys on here that bought them as well and were happy. Upper and Lower Vise Blocks Clamping the upper in the vise from the top and bottom is a great way too go. The clamshell is a good way as well, but I think this method is better. Just my 2 cents. |

Do you think I could put together my first upper with these items? or would I be buying the same tools because these are junk. They will work but there are better tools such as the Gem State wrench mentioned above and the Brownells clam shell shown in the videos I linked. The Midway links show OOS anyway. You can borrow a torque wrench from an auto parts house. |

I have a gift card from christmas I havent used yet. Bass Pro has them on the shevle so my out of pocket cost would be $20 for upper vise, and Multi tool w/torque wrench. |

That multi-wrench would not be the easiest to use, but that style wrench works.
Likewise the torque wrench. FYI some aftermarket barrel nuts use their own wrench. I like the looks of that upper vise clamp because of the gas tube alignment feature. It is safer to use barrel vise jaws to install/remove muzzle devices. |

Nobody is mentioning the Geisele Reaction Rod?

Also what size roll pin punch/holders do I need. Watch the videos. All the tools used are called out. Brownells AR Build If you want to buy individual punches, the sizes are called out in the videos. I use the Grace set from Midway and the holder set from Brownells (and the bolt catch RP punch) Buying the punches individually didn't pencil out for me. |

I did, I will watch again as he called them out fast. Have all the tools written down but the sizes of the roll pin punch. Oh and thanks for the video. |
