Hi Guys,
I am getting ready for some accessories and am looking at getting an attachment point for a sling. I have a Magpul CTS stock, so I have a hole for a QD Swivel. I will be using the rifle for HD and hunting. I am probably going to use a 2 point sling. Any advice on which to use? Any advantage to either? |
| How does your sling attach? If you want to use a QD attachment then obviously you'll need to use the one on the stock. If you want to use a hook of some sort then the ASAP is what you'll need. On my rifle I prefer to use a QD attachment, but I like the rifle to sit a little higher when slung so I use a Noveske QD endplate to attach the QD mount since that keeps the rifle a few inches higher. |

We also use Viking Tactics VTAC and Gear Sector GS2P Slings. For your intended use, this will work well. MOUNT-N-SLOT |

will a QD swivel by itself connect to a CTR or is there something else you need E.G. will the QD plud straight into the hole in the CTR? A QD end/post/button, or whatever you want to call it, on a sling will plug into the QD "socket" on the CTR. If your sling has 2 QD ends and you want to use that on the CTR you will likely want the QD on the oher end as well, though I had an AK set up with a QD end for the CTR stock and a clip for the standard sling attachment at the hand guard. You could do this and use the ASAP. The ASAP's appeal to me would be for easily changing arms when shooting. It would let the sling just slide over and not snag. You could do something similar with a QD if you mounted the socket to a rail on the top or bottom instead of a side, but the ASAP will still be a little smoother and nicer for this purpose. If that's not an issue for you then go with what looks better, is cheaper, or easier for you to make happen. I happen to like the QD for the ability to quickly attach/detach the sling, but others dont like that, and Magpul makes a fine product as well. |
